Finally tried this little trick today with my OLO Skin Savior!!! I think I like it, I am going to do it again tomorrow, but my powder (that I had left over from a couple years ago (!!) bc I don't really use powder anymore) it blended together perfectly, gave me a good amount of coverage while still looking natural & made my skin glowy ;-) Yes, glowy.
If I love it again tomorrow, I might have to head out and buy some more mineral powder to use this little mixture more! Obviously the Skin Savior is such a perfect little multi tasking product, it's no surprise that it would make a smooth & creamy foundation too!

Maternity pics are in :-)

Here's a few of my favorites!!!
We had so much fun with our friends, the Loughran's on Saturday afternoon shooting these!
I can't wait to frame a few for the nursery! I am glad I did these, so I can look back when the belly is long gone and remember what it was like to feel him kicking around in there.
I do have to say....I didn't quite realize how large the belly was until I saw these...haha.

Now...if only I could figure out where the heck she got that adorable gold deer ring, I would be one happy camper.

o-r-a-n-g-e
Loving anything orange right now!
I would just snap that shift dress right up, but I don't think my 32 weeks belly would fit.
Neon nails...oh I think so. This will be the first thing to happen ;-)
Orange pants...when I have a waist again I might just try you out...with a chambray shirt and leather sandals?!
Such a bright summery color, wouldn't you say?

summer product lovin'
I thought I would share my favorite products/accessories during these hot summer months. Not to say that I use all of these every single day; or that I don't use other products that aren't here. These are front runners for me right now--here it goes,
Fedora--mine is soft sea grass, bendable & comfy so you can lay down in it (just bend the back down), or stuff it in your beach bag. From Gap over a year ago.
Scarf--for the new favorite Turban. Escape doing your hair, having the sun bleach out your strategically placed 'melting', and generally rock a pretty fun look.
Sunnies--my shades of choice are from Ray Ban. I have their 80's way farer, a slightly smaller frame that doesn't tilt away from your face. I'm in love with them. Although I must admit am in the market for a tortoise-y cat eye if I find one that pleases me.
Beach Towel--mine is ginatly over-sized, & brightly colored. And why wouldn't it be?!
OPI--nothing better than a fun mani/pedi when you've got your feet in the sand & sun. My favorite this summer is the Pirate's of the Caribbean line, but especially Mermaid Tears & Stranger Tides.
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray--spray in after the pool to revive the wave....actually mixes well with a little grease, sun-screen & chlorine...haha.
Giant beach bag--mine is large, and covered in sea foam colored stripes. From Gap like 10 years ago!
Products--
Shu Umera Chamomile toner--I keep mine the the refrigerator & spritz my face, neck & decolate after soaking in the sun, or just a long day. It's cool & smells faintly of chamomile tea...so refreshing.
Aveda Hair Veil--(orange spritz bottle) spray in hair after styling, or once air dried. Like a sunscreen for the hair, protects color & scalp from the rays.
Smith's Rosebud Salve--a staple in my bed-side drawer. I sleep with this on my lips every night, but also find it handy for any skin that is chapped or dry.
Aveda Green Science eye cream--a must before bed...but now that I'm getting so much sun, my skin is parched by the end of the day & drinks this up the minute it hits my face.
Aveda Tinted Moisturizer--I love this for weekends and days off. Just the smallest hint of coverage, creamy texture that soaks into sun drenched skin & spf 15.
Aveda--beautifying composition. This is a MIRACLE product. I put it in my hair if it feels dry. Sleep with it in my hair if I know I'm washing it the next day (like a lot of it....at least a quarter sized massaged into palms then worked from scalp to ends)...also use it as a body moisturizer. It leaves a faint sheen on the skin (not greasy), smells of lavender & makes skin feel like butter.
Fresh Fig Apricot perfume--sweet & nostalgic...perfect for summer.
Aveda--Exfoliant. Perfectly refreshing for the skin. A liquid exfoliator that uses salicylic instead of abrasive grainy beads that are harsh on the skin. I use this every morning before I do anything else to my face. It's a life saver.
Aveda Caribbean therapy flower water--since dis-continued (oh aveda), again I keep this in the refrigerator & spritz my hair & body down with it when I come in out of the sun. I hate that hot, sticky, parched skin feeling you get from the sun, salt & chlorine. This & the chamomile toner re hydrate skin making it feel soft & supple again.
Clarisonic Mia--use this a few times a week with my cleanser at night. Buffs away dull & dry skin cells, leaving your skin softer and more luminous. yes, please.
So folks...there's always more in the land of products in my bath room....but I'll spare you all the details of my over obsessive product love. I like summer to feel easy, breezy, refreshing & hydrating. Not always easy when sun, surf, chlorine & sun screen have anything to do with it.

on the hunt.
I'm on the hunt for a California King sized antique spindle bed. I think they are pretty fantastic, I think I may have found one on CL, hoping they email me back!!! The headboard on the one I found isn't the same as above, it has a solid wood piece across the back (instead of the spindles), wish it just had spindles like this one, but beggers can't be choosers now can they?! Also, it has 4 taller acorn design topped posters on the corners....which I think are kinda rad, maybe I could eventually have matching spindles made to go across the headboard instead of the solid wood? This assuming that they'll email me back & it's still available.
If it is, I'll be picking it up this week & sharing pics. It looks in the pics to be a fairly glossy orange-y wood (why are CL pics so terrible?), I would love to refinish it, but it looks like a sh*t ton of work (pardon).....and I don't know if anyone is in the mood to help me, lol.
Please please please be available....or, maybe this exact bed will pop up right in front of me, in my price range and all....it could totally happen.

it's HOT people.

{ giant stock tank, hot puppies }

{ desert stock tank, spotted puppy }
I don't know about you, but it's freakin' hot here people! Like...please don't make me sit in the sun without some sort of body of water near by that I can dip myself in hot.
Solution, stock tank pool! Now, to be clear, we do have a pool we can use, but what if we had a little (so adorable) stock tank pool right by the cute little flagstone patio my pops is building?
I've suggested the idea, he seemed mildly amused, but refuted that there wasn't enough space with out disrupting the California Oak's roots. Valid point.
Still, I think it would be so cute, perfect in the summer & just down right a good idea. Oh, and another thing.....is it just me, or is this whole stock tank pool idea far more whimsical than a regular old swimming pool? YES. I think so too ;-)
Happy Monday kittens.

summer=hot pink & peach.
{ Stila, Gladiola Convertible Color }SO...
I am somewhat of a product junkie...and by somewhat, I mean, it's an issue. I L-O-V-E makeup (all products in general...working for Aveda, being a makeup artist for Salon Lux & having a Sephora right upstairs doesn't help in this addiction what-so-ever).
I've decided after seeing HOT pink all over the blogs that I needed my own attempt at it. Et voi la, Nars Schiap. OBSESSED (sorry for the all caps), but I cannot even tell you how many compliments I got on my lipstick today!
Next would be my search for the perfect peachy cheek color! I first got a sample of Bobbi Brown's Cabo Coral with a friend when down in Santa Barbara at Nordstrom's (so sad, no Bobbi Brown around these parts). The Bobbi color is perfection, kicking myself for not just buying it on the spot.....was debating ordering, then yesterday found Gladiola from Stila and found it to be a comparable substitute (same price), no shipping.
So folks, I've got my hot pink & peach for summer....and I am super happy about it! Would definitely recommend both products (although looks like Gladiola is sold out on Stila.com & Sephora site :-(
Happy makeup hunting!

* off for a 1 year anniversary weekend with my baby (can you believe it's been a year)...we're doing a little stay-cation if you will. Pics to come!

i can't help it.

{ chocolate chip + orange zest scone }
I just can't seem to help myself. Doesn't hurt that the hubs loves the scones too! Same recipe, but instead of fresh strawberries I added some chocolate chips, orange zest and the juice from 1/2 an orange to the cream.
AH-MAZING.
These might just be better than the strawberry version.
xoxoxo.

made-strawberry scones part II

Well, I didn't make them this weekend, but I DID make them ;-)Strawberry scones part II, and they are just as good as I remember. Same recipe as before, but I added a little vanilla extract. I think next time I will add a little lemon zest, for some tang (or use buttermilk).
Hope your Monday is lovely!

hot pink=happiness
Are you kidding me?A hot pink Thonet chair?!
In L-O-V-E....and it just so happens we're going to be in the market for some new dining chairs. Now, can I somehow convince the hubs that these aren't pink....but in fact, necessary?
Happy Monday loves!!!!

inspired baking ;-)
Feeling very inspired to finally make some scones (my fav!) after reading Caroline's post over at Coeur de La. I have been saying for a while I want to make more scones, and just haven't gotten to it.
Well....remember when I made these a few years (woah) ago?
That needs to happen again, the Strawberries are just getting really good, I think it's optimal timing to bust out some scones this weekend.
YUM YUM

nerd-alert?

I don't know if I could pull it off? But.....I have been secretly loving socks/tights with heels!
What do you think, wearable? Or something best worn by models in a Jcrew catalog? Either way, I'm enjoying the idea of it along with some fabulously over-sized plastic rimmed eye glasses. Mind you, I don't wear glasses.....and although I'm greatful for my good eyesight, a small little sliver of me wishes I needed glasses so I could justify wearing something like the ones pictured above (via miss Pandora). It's all rather nerdy-chic, no? And rather delightful :-)
Happy Sunday!

hello sparkle!!
Glitter Guide Behind the Scenes from Michelle Drewes on Vimeo.
Can I live in this video? Hair, makeup, sparkles, confetti & champagne....Perfection :-)
via, the Glitter Guide !
p.s. I might need that pink dress (guess I'll have to wait until I have a waist again) & that bright pink lipstick. le sigh.
p.p.s. tried on those Burberry sunnies today in the mint color. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping they would be bigger, but they were mid-sized.....bummer. I wanted more drama with that pop of color. Oh well.

it's been a while

{ 27 weeks! Saying hello to my 3rd trimester! }

{ Pepper Dandelion }

{ me & my love in a friend's wedding photo booth! }

{ me and my girlies in the photo booth }

{ OPI's Mermaid Tears...fave! }
Between our comp not connecting to the internet (WTF), and being sick, it's been a while since my last post!
What's new....???
A pic from 27 weeks....I'll be 28 weeks this weekend, how time flies, it's so crazy!
When I was home sick guess who snuggled by me in bed all day? Yup, my little furry love bug Pepper Dandelion....gosh I love my kitten.
Went to a friend's wedding last weekend and had a BLAST with my little salon family, and lots o' fun in the photo booth, props and all :-)
Lastly (and so important right), I found a new favorite OPI color. Mermaid Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean line..............it's fantastic. I don't know if I can paint myself with anything else.
Hope your week has been wonderful, I've spent my sick (which I might add is no fun what-so-ever (like it ever is), but especially preggo, because you can't take anything to help your symptoms) No Sudafed, Nyquil or cough syrup.. :-( boo.
It can only get better though, and I have a relaxing little weekend to mend myself with.

Sunset...I didn't know I loved you.

{ local alert!! this I-N-S-A-N-E-L-Y beautiful backyard is located in Paso Robles!! Now if only it were mine! }

SUNSET, how was I so blissfully unaware that I might just LOVE you?!Don't hate me....but my parents always got and read Sunset when I was a bit younger (and soo cool, right?! ha, not), so I kinda figured it wasn't really my age range.
Well people.....I have something to admit. Sunset mag is super duper cool. Either I've been missing the bus for the past years....or (gasp) I'm in the "Sunset age range now".
Either way, I don't think I care any more, because I got totally inspired reading this month's issue.
1. That house up-top---GAHH....those colors!??! whaaaa? I'm dying I tell you, to paint a beautiful wood house that exact shade of purple. Dying. Plus for the 50 thousand'th time, I love me a colored door.
2. Bar--Hendrick's Gin, nough' said. In late August/early September (baby's due Aug 28th!!) I'll be sippin' something special to celebrate :-)
3. Insanely cool backyards...I was drooling over #5 down only to realize that it's a local backyard...why does that make me happy!? Haha, I don't know, but I just wish it were my own. The multitude of cacti, the sprawling hills covered in grape vines, and the pool....just a dream.
Okay....I'm done. Subscription to Sunset asap?! Yes, please!

If Baby is a Boy...

Here's what the nursery would look like if baby is a boy!!
Colors: all blues, with some citron, black & white accents :-)
Keeping with the slight sea life pieces. Would be using the same white Jenny Lind crib. Contemplating if that blue & citron bedding is 'manly' enough...but I love that little pop of green it adds. What do you think?
This whole thing is so fun, thinking up decor, colors & pieces! I love it. We find out baby's gender April 11th, we can't wait, obviously.
